Studies on Interpretation — concealment and presence, Fig Studio Stockholm
Studies on Interpretation

Concept

This study explores how meaning is shaped between image and viewer — and how controlled concealment can become a tool in building a visual direction or image.

Meaning is not fixed. It is shaped in the space between image and viewer, guided but never fully controlled.
The image does not fix interpretation, but it defines its limits.

Approach

Veil and lace function as controlled filters. Expression is partially concealed, yet presence remains intact. In the seated composition, posture, elevation, and framing are deliberately structured. The viewer is invited in, but only so far.

Outcome

Restraint is not absence. Controlled concealment produces stronger presence than full exposure. What is withheld becomes as meaningful as what is shown

Direction

For brands and individuals: you do not need to show everything. Define what is seen and what is withheld. The right audience will understand what lies within
